About Redemption: Bottle Deposits
The app adds a per-unit deposit or fee line to checkout for the products you choose, such as bottle deposits, container fees and bag charges, and keeps a ledger of what was collected. The charge is shown to the buyer in the cart and at checkout before they pay.
Getting started
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store and approve the permissions it requests. Installing also creates the fee line item used at checkout.
- Choose the products that should carry a deposit and set the amount per unit for each one.
- Set the jurisdiction, for example the state or region the deposit rule applies to. This label appears on the deposit line at checkout.
- Test once by adding one of those products to a cart and opening checkout. The deposit line should show the amount per unit multiplied by quantity.
Troubleshooting
The deposit line isn't showing
Check that the product is enabled for a deposit and that an amount per unit is saved on the variant. Add one unit to a test cart and open checkout. The line appears at checkout, not on the product page.
The amount looks wrong
The line is calculated per unit, then multiplied by quantity. Confirm the per-unit amount for that specific variant, and remember that variant-level settings override the product default.
Refunds and returns
Refunds and deposit returns are handled from Shopify's Orders screen as usual. The ledger records what was collected when the order was placed; it does not change refunds.
Only orders that included a deposit line are recorded in the ledger. Each entry holds the order identifier, the order total and the time the order was placed.
Billing
App charges are billed through Shopify and appear on your regular Shopify invoice. What each plan includes and the monthly price are on our App pricing page. To stop the subscription, uninstall the app from your store, and Shopify stops billing from that point. Questions about your Shopify invoice itself are best answered by Shopify Support.
Uninstalling
You can uninstall at any time from Settings → Apps and sales channels in your Shopify admin. Uninstalling removes the deposit lines from checkout, cancels the subscription, and deletes the installation record and deposit ledger held for your store.
Data and privacy
The app does not collect shopper personal information: no names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses or payment details. It stores the store's installation record and, where enabled, deposit ledger entries containing the order identifier, order total and timestamp. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
